Mealt Falls, Scotland

Kilt Rock Waterfall, also known as Mealt Falls, is a genuinely remarkable waterfall. The water of Loch Mealt plunges straight into the Atlantic Ocean from a height of 55 meters, over the Kilt Rock cliffs. Water from the Loch Mealt, which originates in the surrounding hills, feeds the waterfall.

Mealt Falls is situated on the Isle of Skye in Scotland (United Kingdom), 24 kilometers north of Portree, along road A855. The Mealt Falls exit is unmissable when traveling on the A855. Even for brief parking, you must pay to use the large (new) lot.

The parking lot is just next to the promenade, which offers multiple views of the ocean and the Mealt Falls. The best vantage point is 10–20 meters above the waterfall, where you can see full 55 meters of the Mealt Falls. The outflow of Loch Mealt, which plunges over precipitous cliffs and plummet 55 meters to the rocky shore below, straight into the sea, is what creates the Mealt fall. Mealt Falls is a significant animal habitat as well. Seabirds like razorbills and guillemots find a home among the rocks and cliffs. Salmon are also drawn to the waterfall; they swim upstream to breed in Loch Mealt.
